Linda is the CEO of Muse Technologies, Incorporated. Muse Technologies, Inc., is a Woman-Owned, Minority-Owned Small Business, and a participant in the U.S. Small Business Administration's (SBA) 8(a) Business Development Program. Delivering transformation and IT consulting services, Muse brings innovation and management efficiency to our Government clients and industry partners. Over the past forty years, Linda has had proven success in cloud computing, mobility, and program management. This expertise, along with success in enterprise solutions and organizational development, has ensured she remains a leader in the industry. Linda served in the US Federal Government as a Cabinet Level Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Linda led one of the best IT organizations in government. While CIO, she served as principal advisor to the NASA Administrator and provided insight and technology leadership to some of the most brilliant scientists and engineers in the world. While CIO, she created the popular NASA CIO blog and continued to be a prolific blogger. A strong leader, and innovator, Linda received significant recognition by being a pathfinder for other federal CIOs in the professional use of social media. Linda is well known in the public sector for her ability to communicate, lead, and drive change with a record for delivering innovation and notable reductions in operating costs for her organization.
She has written several articles for Federal Computer Week and Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers and is a monthly contributor to Information Week Government. She has numerous publications, like “Eigenvalues of the Laplacian on Polygons” Journal of Sound and Vibration, “The Leadership Muse: Inspiration for the 21st Century Hero Leader” – Synergy Press, and “Innovation: There Is Something New Under the Sun” – IT Professional.
Linda held various other executive IT positions including Associate CIO at Department of Energy and Deputy CIO at Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Her strong business acumen in leadership, technology, and program management solutions provides Muse Technologies with the foundation necessary to develop solutions that deliver powerful outcomes for their clients.
Born and raised in Washington, DC, Linda attended DC public schools like the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. There she studied trumpet, French horn, and piano. In 1980, she graduated from Howard University with a BS in Mathematics. Later, she received a Master of Science degree and Post-Masters Advanced Certificate in Applied Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University. Linda received a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership at the University of Maryland – Eastern Shore with dissertation research on leadership in complex organizations.
She has received prestigious awards including, The 50 Women of Influence and Power Award from the Minority Enterprise Executive Council and the IT Service Management Forum (ITSMF) Summit Heritage Award. Linda has also received recognition from the Washington Business Journal –Women Who Mean Business and she was a Women in Technology Award Finalist for Excellence in Leadership, Mentoring, and Technology. She was honored as Government Computer News Civilian Executive of the Year. Linda was recognized as a Washingtonian Magazine Tech Titan, Federal Computer Week’s Top Fed 100, and one of Business Insider’s 25 Most Powerful Women Engineers.
Linda lives in a Washington, DC suburb with her husband Douglas, mother, and grandfather.
